If you're like me, you still want to crochet in the summer but the heat makes larger projects less than attractive. Why not join in the Make-A-Long for the Chubby Sheep, a small amigurumi project that requires only basic crochet skills?
I'll be posting part of the pattern each week, along with links to tutorials so if this is your first amigurumi project, you'll have plenty of support along the way! (On the other hand, if you'd like to jump right in, you can find the full pattern without links to tutorials here.)
Here's the schedule:
Week of June 24: Gather supplies, crochet the head and ears. (PDF here.)
Week of July 1: Crochet the body. (PDF here.)
Week of July 8: Stuff, assemble and finish!
I used Kollabora's Let's Shag mohair yarn (linked in the supplies below) because the mohair creates a great "sheepy" texture! More details are in the pattern instructions.
Week 1 Tutorials:
If you're new to crochet, you may want to check out these tutorials in our Learning Center! These are listed in the order you'll need them in the pattern.
Week 2 Tutorials:
In addition to the tutorials listed in Week 1, you may want to check out my photo tutorial for the popcorn. (Hint: If you are new to popcorns, you should try for the first time on a non-mohair yarn. It is really hard to rip back in mohair!) You can also download or print a PDF version of the tutorial here.
Now for the finishing touches! This week you should stuff your sheep body and join the pieces together.
Remember to stuff your sheep as much as you can, since you will still need to crochet a few more rounds.
