Mauna Kea created itself on my needles. I had a Sweater Kit from SpaceCadet in their beautiful Dark Skies Ombré Kit and wanted to do something aside from the expected colour transition/fade. I thought "I can't mess up stripes if it is a kit!"

So I cast on the neck, deciding straightaway that the mock turtleneck would need a bit of texture at the start as well as a bit of lasting interest throughout the length of the sleeves...which needed to be 3/4 in length I knew from the first stitich.

The drape of this sweater over the stockinette stitching is incredible and owed entirely to Lyra the sport weight yarn offered by SpaceCadet Yarn.

The side detail is not only figure flattering, but functional as it hides the jogs cleverly as the colour shifts from stripe to stripe. At teh bottom of each side a free split allows for unrestricted edges to continue in flatering mode.

From start to finish, I had nothing but fun creating this sweater for SpaceCadet Yarn. At the end of their exclusive Knit2Gether the pattern will be offered for purchase through With∞Mel (the pattern will include video tutorials and helps from swatching to casting off!)
