my licorice dress
by kelerabeus Follow

For the longest time I've been eying Lekala patterns and finally I caved in and tried one. And boy, do I like it!

This is pattern #4128 and it’s described as Dress from the 50s. It checks all the boxes for me - fitted bodice with princess seams, full pleated skirt and it's a shirt dress! And I also love slightly dramatic collar and bare shoulders. The only thing I was afraid of was the fit - Lekala patterns are customized to your specific measurements and since I never used them before I was a bit skeptical about the whole made to measure aspect. But as it turns out, the fit is really good! So I guess you'll be seeing more Lekala patterns from me in the future :)

And can we talk about this fabric for a minute? It's not every day that you come across a cotton with an ombre print that goes from coral red to white, so I was kinda super excited when I did! I stashed this fabric for quite a while and I think that I did it justice in the end. I made the bodice with middle white part of the fabric and the skirt is full on ombre. And if you look closely - tips of the collar are pink!
Needless to say, I'm in love.
